ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
We chose the insect Tenebrio molitor as the products with the highest quality on the market are produced from it, and there is a beneficial impact for the environment. These insects are nature’s most powerful recyclers and, although they are found in the bottom part of the food chain, they are the most efficient.
They help us to create a circular food system and allow us to relinquish a linear production system that exhausts resources.
ZERO EMISSIONS – ZERO WASTE
Our insects are highly efficient at converting the feed they take. This means that their excretions are fully digested and no hydrogenated compounds are generated. Therefore, there are no methane or ammonia emissions
Insects have a low ecological footprint and they are the perfect sustainable alternative to typical protein sources.
They have the astounding capacity to turn a raw material of very low value, such as cereal by-products, into valuable high-quality defatted powder and oils.
Reduction of production space, food consumption and water use.
We have the possibility of breeding them at a height, in large quantities and in very confined spaces. We reduce the need for space by around 40% with respect to other species.
They are much more efficient consuming food. 1 kg of product is obtained with just 3 kg of food. Cows need between 8 to 10 kg, chickens around 4 and pigs between 5-6.
In terms of water consumption, these insects are used to living in spaces with very low humidity. This means that water use is reduced by 97% with respect to other species. Neither is water used in the slaughtering and protein processing procedure.
Green circular economy model
Our aim is that our activity is beneficial for the environment. We increase crop productivity whilst producing high-quality food and with a much lower need for resources, which means we make the value chain balance changes right from the base.
SUSTAINABILITY
The use of our Tenebrio molitor-based products offers environmental and health benefits as well as benefits for social resources and livelihoods.
