It is a nitrogenous polysaccharide. Chitin is extracted from the exoskeleton of the beetle and its degradation results in chitosan.<\/p>\n

They are biodegradable, biocompatible and have recognised antimicrobial, antiviral and antifungal activity.<\/p>\n

The applications of chitin and chitosan are wide-ranging, but we are currently focusing on cosmetics, biodegradable films and textiles.<\/p>\n
